GE Vernova and NextEra Energy Resources conduct a generator rotor operation.

Recently, Steam Power Services worked with NextEra Energy Resources to recommission one of their plants as a part of the Duane Arnold Energy Center restart project- this will bring 0.6GW back online quicker than any other alternative. In a capacity-constrained world, this has a big value to the country.

To complete their last essential step, our GE Vernova team worked closely with the Duane Arnold team to remove the generator rotor, lift, and ship it via rail from Palo, Iowa, to our service center in Schenectady, New York for refurbishment.

The operation proved to be an important milestone for the Duan Arnold Energy Center restart project and the first time this complex procedure has been carried out in 14 years.

Thanks to NextEra Energy Resources, we were able to witness the incredible (but lengthy) process via time-lapse of the removal, lifting, and shipping of a 200-ton generator rotor.
